Local Artist wins National FWPW Art Contest

Teton Valley 6th grader (Mountain Academy of Teton Science Schools), Chloe Hayes, was recently declared the winner for middle school students in a national art contest to celebrate Food Waste Prevention Week.  Students at Mountain Academy participated in a variety of food waste programming in early April culminating in some students creating original artwork to show what food means to them.  Chloe Hayes was chosen amongst hundreds of entries from schools across the US.  Local students also displayed their posters at the annual Earth Day Fair put of by a collaboration of local nonprofits.

This year, RAD Curbside sponsored a similar art contest for 4th and 5th grade students awarding gift certificates to the top three posters from Rendezvous Upper Elementary School students. These are currently on display at the school district administration building/ABC Summer Camp program for the summer.  The local and national art contests will be a part of next year's Food Waste Prevention Week activities in Teton Valley, so artistic students (K-12) be on the lookout next April.

"I really wanted to show our world and the diversity. I wanted to show that our world is amazing and worth protecting. Food brings us together."    - Chloe Hayes
